During my trip to Port of Spain, Trinidad, I stayed in a neighborhood called St. Ann’s with artist Christopher Cozier and his family. Each day, as we moved in and out of the area, I couldn’t help but notice how alive it was—people heading to work, waiting on transportation, or just hanging out. From the start, I knew I needed to stay focused on the project I came to do, but by day two or three, I promised myself I’d walk the main street and really take in the neighborhood on foot.
One afternoon during that walk, I came across a family—kids playing and bathing in the water while their parents looked on. It didn’t take long to recognize the beauty in that moment. I approached them, asked if I could take a few photos, and they graciously agreed. These images came from that brief but meaningful encounter.
